Happy Monday Beauties!
Skincare in summer is all about staying hydrated inside and out, wearing a good SPF and ensuring your products are tailored to how your skin changes during the warmer seasons. Read on to find out our top tips for summer, based on your skin type.
For dry and sensitive faces I highly recommend steering away from anything scented with a perfume, as this is usually what causes a reaction in the skin. Plus, the sun’s rays can react with artificial fragrance potentially causing toxicity and even permanent pigmentation.
For sun protection, We recommend Invisible Physical Defense SPF 30 by Dermlogica. Its active ingredient is Zinc, a natural SPF that is gentle and perfect for sensitive skin. It’s also healing and hydrating!
Oily skin can become extra-apparent in summer, as we get higher levels of humidity and are prone to sweating more. Working together with your skin therapist, we can totally integrate this and have you looking refreshingly “dewy".
We recommend a good cleanser to start managing the oil-flow to your face. For a cleanser, I would suggest Dermalogica's Active Clay Cleanser. A Prebiotic cleanser that deeply purifies to help balance oily skin. A dual-action, mineral-rich clay and charcoal formula actively cleanses and purifies.
Combination skin occurs when your skin is in a bit of distress or confusion. Its dry in some areas, and to try correct this it overcompensates and kicks in extra oils. By hydrating your skin correctly, your oil levels will go down naturally as a result of your skin balancing out and calming down. A lot of people experience combination skin in summer as a result of using winter products that may not be suitable for the warmer months.
Combination skin requires a good cleanser that won’t dry you out but will help remove excess oils from the skin. We recommend Dermalogica's Special Cleansing Gel, a gentle soap-free, foaming gel cleanses all skin conditions. Refreshing lather thoroughly removes impurities, without disturbing the skin’s natural moisture balance.
