Microneedling & PRP Treatments

MICRONEEDLING

Medical Micro-needling or Collagen Induction Therapy is an innovative, safe way to help minimize the appearance of fine lines and scarring and give skin a beautiful fresh glow. With minimal downtime and natural-looking results, micro needling is ideal for anyone looking for an alternative to all-over skin resurfacing using lasers or to intensive results using rollers. One of the many benefits of this fabulous new procedure is that it can be used virtually anywhere on the body: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back. It can also have a positive effect on the appearance of hyper-pigmentation, dark spots, acne scars, and stretch marks.

HOW IT WORKS

A medical micro-needling procedure begins with a topical numbing cream then a thin layer of hydrating solution. Next, we use the pen to glide over the area to be treated. It feels like light sandpaper on your skin, and while some areas may be more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip helps to minimize discomfort. Post-treatment, we apply a soothing, hydrating gel. Each procedure takes between 15 and 30 minutes.

Immediately following your treatment, you’ll likely see bright redness, with healing taking anywhere from 24 hours to about four days, depending on the area being treated and the number of overlapping passes we perform. We have wonderful quality skincare products that can help speed-up the post-care. Many clients notice a glow immediately, with changes to your skin developing in the days and weeks that follow. Results may continue to improve up to six months after the treatment.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS

Some people get optimal results with just one treatment couple times per year. Most people receive 3-4 treatments about 6-8 weeks apart. For deep wrinkles, advanced photo aging, stretch marks, or acne scars, we may recommend 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals. As always, we are happy to answer your questions about any of our treatments, and we welcome you for a consultation to determine which treatments are best suited to your skin.

PRP TREATMENT

Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, is an enhancement to standard Microneedling and is produced from your own blood. PRP contains highly concentrated amounts of natural growth factors and other cytokines that promote the regeneration process of soft tissues and speeds up the healing process. The PRP is applied directly to the channels that were created from the micro-needling to further stimulate the natural healing process and creation of collagen

WHAT TO EXPECT

BEFORE TREATMENT

First, we will prepare your skin by cleansing it and removing all makeup and products. We will apply a topical anesthetic to help numb the skin.

DURING THE TREATMENT

Clients liken the treatment to experiencing a warm sensation, like that of a sunburn. There may also be some discomfort in the area being treated but this will pass as we move to another area. For PRP, your blood will be drawn by our Nurse Injector, Candyce Bell. She will then filter filter out the red and white blood cells, leaving only the liquid plasma and platelets.  These platelets are applied to the skin,  increasing the cell turnover and rejuvenation while speeding up the recovery process.

AFTER THE TREATMENT

The sunburn feeling may remain for up to 24 hours. You will need to avoid direct sunlight for the first 48 hours, makeup for 18 hours, and refrain from smoking for 24 hours, as well.

PRP TREATMENT - FOR HAIR LOSS

Hair loss in men and women can be frustrating and embarrassing, even though it affects a huge part of the population. Thankfully, there are options, like PRP. PRP is an exciting, non-surgical option for patients suffering from hair loss, thinning hair, pattern baldness, and even alopecia in some cases.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy for hair loss has three steps to it: drawing your blood, processing it, then injecting it back into the scalp. The blood is processed by putting it into a machine called a centrifuge, which separates out the red blood cells from the plasma. The plasma, rich in platelets, is then injected directly into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles. These platelets contain healing growth factors which trigger natural hair growth and maintain it by increasing blood supply to the hair follicle, while increasing the thickness of the hair shaft.
